Freestyleski.co.uk welcomes you to the world of adrenaline and exhilaration, the world of high altitudes, stunning scenery, and one of the world’s most popular winter sports. This is the world of skiing and snowboarding.
If you’re planning your next holiday and fancy a winter break mixed with a bit of adventure, then a skiing holiday could be the ideal choice for you. There are a choice of ski destinations in Europe and further afield on offer, and resorts that are geared up to everyone from the total beginner to the expert skier or cross country expert. Many of these resorts will also cater for snowboarders too so everyone can join in the fun.
When it comes to Europe, France has a reputation for offering some of the largest ski areas in the world, many of which are linked, opening up large areas of snow to visitors and residents alike. Popular resort suggestions include the chic resort of Courchevel, the modern Les Arcs Resort, Val D’ Isère with its lively Après Ski, the family friendly Valmorel, and La Rosiere which is shared with Italy. Other ski areas linked with Italy include La Thuile, while over the Italian border there is Sansicario in the Milky Way area, Cervinia beneath the Matterhorn, Pasa Tonale which is great for beginners and intermediates, and Val Di Fassa in the Dolomites. There are also the smaller, but lively ski areas in Andorra, and the large variety of ski resorts in Austria, including St Anton, Seefeld, and Mayrhofen,
Delve further into Europe and you’ll discover the three S’s of Spain, Switerzerland, and Slovenia, all of which offer some great quality skiing. In Spain there are the Sierra Nevada, Formigal, and Baqueira-Beret resorts, while in Slovenia the skiing takes in the lakeside resort of Bled, Bohinj, and Kranjska Gora. Then there is Switzerland, known to many as the home of downhill skiing, and home to the popular resorts of Villars, Verbier, Saas Fee, Grindelwald, and other traditional, and very picturesque, ski resorts and Swiss villages.
For something equally as exciting, why not try one of the long haul destinations available, such as the USA, Chile, Canada, Japan or Dubai. Yes Dubai has joined the ski set, and although the Ski Dubai Centre is an indoor facility, it does hold a record for being the first indoor ski centre to have a black run, along with a snow park, bobsleigh run, and freestyle snowboarding zone. Although Japan doesn’t seem like a typical ski destination either, the island of Hokkaido with its resorts of Niseko and Rusutsu, could provide a great long haul ski break. Going back to the USA, Chile, and Canada, you’ll find a selection of famous destinations to choose from, such as Aspen, Lake Tahoe, and Beaver Creek in the USA, Valle Nevado in the Chilean Andes, and resorts like Whistler, the national park of Banff, and Lake Louise in Canada.
All in all, it’s a worldwide ski map, and it just depends on where you want to stick your pin in it, and where you want to spend your holiday. Every resort will have a fine selection of accommodation from traditional ski chalets to luxury hotels, along with shops, après ski entertainment, and other attractions such as sleigh rides. Packages can be booked via most travel agents that will include flights, accommodation, transfers, and lift passes for the duration of the holiday. Then all that remains is to organise the correct winter sports travel insurance for your party, and all the clothing and equipment you might need to buy before you travel. When everything is booked, all that remains is to count down the days until you’re hitting the slopes.
